Did the doctor give you a concrete diagnosis?  Two things I would add are probotics and digestive enzymes taken with meals.  Also, what is your diet like?  Get rid of all processed foods, junk foods, fast foods, sodas, etc.  Eat as many raw fruits and vegetables as possible.

And please take heart.  There is a solution.  Sometimes it takes a little time.
