I tried douching with a half water half hydrogen peroxide and it does wonders for treating BV if it is all inflamed. But the real cure for BV is fixing your diet. BV is not a vaginal problem as much as it is a nutritional problem. If you can successfully alter your PH back to it's less acidic state, than BV will no longer be a problem. So douche if you are having an acute attack for sure, but research an acidic diet vs a low acidic diet. Basically baking soda is your best friend, not for douching, but for altering your PH permanently. I religiously drank a glass of water with half a teaspoon of baking soda stirred into it every morning for a month, and I haven't had a recurrence since. But you have to use it carefully. ONLY drink baking soda on an empty stomach or it will interfere with your food digestion and cause lots of problems. so one hour before eating or 4 hours after eating. I would drink it at night too if I had eaten something really acidic. Alcohol is VERY acidic and I always chase it with baking soda water. Especially wine. Then eat a low acidic diet, which means lots of vegetables. What work for me is to eat a large salad with every meal, even breakfast. Grains and sugars are very acidic so the traditional american diet is very bad for BV. I eat all organic because I believe that toxins also play a role in BV and all diseases. I do take a probiotic and folic acid, but the biggest help for me was changing my diet to eating a lot less meat, a lot more vegetables, virtually no grains or sugars (including fruit) and baking soda water. If I do want to eat something I know will set off my BV, like a glass of wine, I drink a glass of it before I go to bed and when I get up (always on an empty stomach). I hope this helps.
