Just want to make one comment and then ease out of this conversation....because you two are debating in grace and I like that.

You state: "Are we made righteous by our obedience or is our obedience a result of God's righteousness at work in us?"

My belief is that it is both at the same time.

We allow God to work through us by our obedience of accepting Him so He can fill us with His power and strength. We don't claim that the power is our own.


We can not become righteous without the cross which made salvation available to all people..... but we still can not become righteous without accepting that Jesus is our Lord and Savior, which is our step towards God. The wooing to bring us to the cross is the power of God...the decision (because of the wooing) to come to the cross is our own.
