the water in tank is supposed to be hot,the fan top is ascam,though.i set mine on top,without fan on.these machines WILL shart out the strain relief for main powercord is ineffective,electrical contacts are cheap and under rated for the temps...very easy to correct,wire it as if you are using 220 volts and it will last forever.ALso,new strain relief.if you need help still call/email.
