I also know exactly what you're talking about. Facing social rejection every day can make you wonder if it's worth it to go on, why we're afflicted with such an unusual and painful disease, and why more and better treatments aren't available.
However, many people have found daily regimens that have helped mitigate their conditions. I recently posted that following the NIH regimen for TMAU, but using super blue-green algae instead of a single pill chlorophyll suplement, seemed to work pretty well. Not 100% every day, but many good and above-average days tend to balance the worse days. For me, I've also noticed that I have to do the regimen every single day - the B2 vitamins, the activated charcoal, the avoidance of choline in the diet. Further, following people's advise about pH balanced cleansers, and ending showers/bath with cool water also helps. Finally, I find I have to avoid using hair conditioners on my scalp, and change out my shoes and/or insoles frequently to avoid a noticeable smell.
I also feel like I've tried just about everything, spent a fortune, and gotten nothing but humiliation out of doctor visits. I went through a period a few years back when I avoided all suger and nearly all carbs for several months, and did several types of cleanses, including Liver Flushing and colon cleanses. While I'm sure that cleanses are good for most people, these treatments didn't have a noticeable effect on my BO.
Please never give up hope. There are studies going on at a University in Australia on TMAU treatments, and useful information coming out all the time. Even if you don't have TMAU, I know you've seen how many advances have been made in recent years in the treatments of so many diseases. It's just a matter of time, so in the meantime, there are ways to find meaning and joy in life.
