Yes, I agree with you. Most of us here are probably in the hard to treat category of SIBO. Firstly, most of us have taken Antibiotics at some time which made the SIBO worse, by killing more good bacteria than bad. Secondly, most of us here have yeast allergy, which makes controlling yeast overgrowth as important as killing the SIBO causing bacteria.
Yes, we don't want to kill more good bacteria. The small intestine needs a small number of good bacteria colonizing the mucosa to prevent opportunistic bad bacteria and fungi from attaching themselves. If we still have these good bacteria in the small bowel then we don't want to lose them. However I would not be surprised if many of us don't have any of these good bacteria left in our small bowels. I think I've eradicated mine with antibitoics last year. My lactobacillus and bifidobacteria levels are zero in stool tests.
