Some people link Aluminum to Alzheimers. I sometimes use foil to cover food in the oven or fridge. I don't like the sound of your hot water gizmo. Probably give you a dose of aluminum every time you use it.

I use non stick pans. The teflon usually coats aluminum. If it gets scratched and any shows through, it gets thrown out.
