I think, sometimes, that it makes people feel better if they can assign blame to another's problems. It makes it easier to tell yourself, well, I'D never get in that situation. If they did, it is their fault. Too scary to think we are ALL really vulnerable from time to time, and to remember the saying, "there but for the grace of God, go I". Not that personal responsibility isn't important - in fact it is vital. But, OTOH, sh*t happens!
