While I would agree, for the most part (and a great deal of it a cluster fvck caused by our chemical meddling in an effort to create *better living*), it is still caused, for the most part inadvertently, by man... and there are natural forms of pollution and resource failures that also play parts in all of this.

Loss of dietary quality, diversity, increases in human wastes, etc... these things have caused catastrophic population declines throughout our history... plagues, agricultural failures, etc...
