Thanks for such quick responses, I really appreciate it. I can't wait for the KI powder to arrive so I can start supplementing with SSKI :-)

For those of you in the UK who are considering making SSKI , you can get Potassium Iodide powder on Ebay. The one I've ordered is USP grade from this seller.

I emailed the second seller to ask what grade his Potassium Iodide is and this was his response:

Hi
Our potassium Iodide is mostly GRP grade, which I think is roughly the equivalent of USP but we do have some which is Analar, which is our equivalent to ACS. The detailed spec is:
Assay minimum 99.8%
Maximum limits of impurities:
Water insoluble 0.003%
Cl and Br 0.01%
Iodate 0.0002
Nitrogen 0.001%
phosphate 0.001%
sulphate 0.001%
As 0.00001%
Ba 0.001%
Ca 0.0006%
Cu 0.0002%
Fe 0.0002%
Pb 0.0002%
Mg 0.0005%
Na 0.03%
Iodine reducing substances 0.001%.
If this grade is suitable, just specify Analar when ordering. The price is the same.

Judging from his reply, the second seller's Analar KI is a higher grade and I wish I'd waited fror his response before I ordered the first.
