Revelation 10:10 is a renewal of John's prophetic call. He eats the little book, representing God's word, so that he can proclaim it (see Ezek. 3:1-3) Sweet...bitter: John finds God's word a joy to receive but painful to deliver. It is a message of judgment on unbelievers and therefore a message that may bring persecution to the prophet.
