Trimnut2 I would love to hear about what you have discovered yourself about the various tree crops you have, as I'm sure would many people who read and post here.

As these tree crops require little initial outlay, and little maintenance, I am amazed also that there has been little study done. I guess this is another case of follow the money, and where there is not a continuing source of income for chemical companies, there is no desire to promote a food crop.

What tree species would you recommend for low rainfall areas?

I didn't realise that bull rush hearts were edible, what do they taste like?

I love to collect wild foods, there is soooo much around, I include a lot of seaweeds in my diet, such as kelp and sea lettuce in the summer months. Kelp is great, it can be roasted and made into delicious chips, and the thick pieces make wonderful dog chews.
