Just a thought. This condition must be related to our health (duh). We all have something in common. After following Montreal's diet, I did notice some improvement but nothing that would motivate me to continue. Before the diet I weighed around 140lbs. Today, I'm at 120lbs. Now I love the fact that I lost quite a lot of fat around my waist that I was unable to rid of, but I noticed that I am a lot weaker, skinnier, bony, and most of all underweight (BMI). To me, under eating is just as worse as over eating. I am not all saying that Montreal's plan doesn't work, because it obviously worked for him (great way to get in shape and lose weight too), but it had more of an effect on my physical/emotional state than with my lips. I was beginning to become more depressed knowing that all I could eat were veggies, salads, and nuts throughout the day while watching everyone else around me not worry and eat whatever they wanted to, whenever they wanted to. Being a full time college student, I've ran out of extra money to purchase healthy/organic foods. I am becoming more depressed everyday and my self esteem is below zero at this point. So now I write this in frustration mainly because of where I'm at in life. I'm 22 years old and I am beginning to take part of extra curricular clubs/organizations around school. I feel like EC is holding me back from all the "social" aspects of school and life. There are things I want to do especially go to the beach and jump in...but no, my lips would turn white instantly after staying in water.
Why do extremely obese individuals not have this condition if it was truly our diet?
Why is it that people who live in third world countries with poor nutrition do not have this?
Why not people who live in dry or freezing climates?
Why us? What did we do?
There is underlying reason why we all have this condition. With Montreal healing himself through a strict diet, this is definitely an internal health problem. I've never had a blood test, I will be contacting my doctor to test me and see if there are any concerns (deficiencies, anemia, gluten etc). I know this is like a broken record repeating but I'm 100% this condition is not as difficult to treat if only we had the support from doctors and dermatologists. Honestly, if I could change my major (too late now) I would switch to become a dermatologist or study gastroenterology and work on a treatment for EC. Hopefully there is a doctor out there who is reading this. Every time I look around and see others with perfect, plump, regular lips it just makes me frustrated. Why us?
