Hello #133855,
A couple of suggestions...
Since you are dealing with dental issues, be sure you have a good mouthwash and use it often. Good oral hygiene can improve ones health. You can make a good mouthwash by putting 4 ml of 22.4% sodium chlorite in a bottle and adding enough water to make a total of 500 ml. You can even add a drop of mint for the zesty experience. Take a mouthful and swish for 30 seconds, or longer if you can, and spit it out. Do not rinse afterward. Use this 2 - 4 times a day.
Check your carpet area for mold or mildew. If any is present, clean it up. Then you need to mix up a solution to spray on the carpet. The best solution is to fix the problem, but this will help while you are sorting that out.
In a 1 liter spray bottle put 5 ml of 22.4% sodium chlorite and fill it up to the 1 liter mark. With your carpet area dried out, spray the solution on the area and around the surrounding area. After that initial spray dries, spray another round. This should use up most of the solution but any you have left you can save for future use.
The spray will deodorize the area and hold any mold or mildew at bay. Depending upon how often it rains it should last for about 6 months.
Most carpets have no problem with this, but there is the possibility of bleaching. You may want to try a small area first before treating the whole area. Also, after the first application you only need a single spray dose to keep things working. The double dose is only for the first time.
Tom
