It's not the distance that I think is enabling her behaviors but rather the fact that I have chose keeping a distance over letting her know that her behaviors are not acceptable. I have felt like the people in her life who not only ignore those behaviors but in fact tell her she is right just to get something they want from her (like using her manipulative tactics to manipulate her), makes her behaviors worse because it validates them for her.

I know it is not my job to help her, I wish she could realize that. She actually said to me "I never got support from my mom and dad and now I can't get any support from you". I couldn't believe she could even say that to me, her daughter. I am not her mom, I am her child. But I just need to come to terms that we are probably never going to have a proper mother/daughter relationship.
