 In your opinion, is using a gas insert in your fireplace a sustainable method to heat one's home?

I've researched both pellet stoves and wood burning stoves, and the initial igniting of such stoves introduces much smoke into the home.

Methane is a good choice for heating.  More and more cities are trapping the methane from their land fills as an energy source and to reduce global warming.  And think of the trees that can be saved to suck up more CO₂ by using methane for heating instead of wood.
