Been there done that, if all people did was listen to man, which many do, without discerning whether the things they are hearing is truth according to the bible or not, that is where the huge problems would come.
People are going to throw their messages at us from all over. We get messages all day long from the media, from our families and friends, from people on the internet. Every message has to be discerned by the truth God has taught us and continues to teach us, by His word. I go to church, but I don't believe everything our minister says, just like I don't believe everything my family says, or the media says, etc. But if my minister says something that is true according to God's word, or my family says something true according to God's word, etc,. I can learn from those truths they are saying.
Christians have God's spirit at work in them. He is our perfect teacher, who will eventually teach us all things. So why can't I learn from another person that has God's spirit? God may be showing another christian things He hasn't showed me yet, especially those older and wiser, and He may use them to teach me.
No matter what God uses whether people, life circumstances, scriptures, nature, etc., all truth comes from Him. He's going to teach us in various ways. But because we live in a very fallen world, He has asked us to be discerning about everything we hear and see, lest we fall into deception.
Many churches out there are teaching blatant lies. By God's grace, people will began to wake up and see that these things they are being taught is not of God. Many are just listening to men without discerning any of what they are hearing with God's word. This is where the problem is.
We can't just plug our ears up with earplugs and shut every voice out, nor should we. I have learned much truth from my minister that I have discerned as truth according to God's word and I'm thankful for that. And assembling together on a weekly basis with other christians is a huge blessing for me. To come together and worship God together, sing songs of praise together, open up God's word and learn together, comfort one another in trials and rejoice together in blessings, is an incredible blessing that I would mourn deeply to lose.
I've seen what happens to many christians that try to go this walk alone, and it's very sad. I very much believe in the importance of assembling ourselves together, and having a church building is a great way to do that. But it can certainly be done in other ways, like the home churches are doing, etc. You could even meet at the park, or wherever. There doesn't have to be a building, but I think that helps, especially when it's cold or raining. There maybe a time coming when we aren't allowed to meet in buildings anymore like in other places, and we will have to be more creative if we want to continue to assemble ourselves together.
