This "poem" caught my attention first time I read it, very moving:

I sat for over two hours once, just to watch her lay an egg- it is NOT and EASY PROCESS- Nature makes them have to lay eggs even if there is no rooster around, but she struggled and worked to find the right spot, then it was a supreme effort for her to lay an egg. she then rested a few minutes- after she looked at her egg, then at me, then went off making all sorts of amazing noises-
then, when she was done commenting-
she rolled her egg over to me-
i sat and cried.
