Jackie,
I just PM'd you some files you can download/open and read regarding "Cayenne". Although the information in the files isn't specifically about migraines, it will help you understand why it's going to be SO beneficial for yours (and why it's a part of everybody's healing protocol).
Here's a general Google search on Cayenne/Capsicum/Capsaicin + Migraine (Capsicum/Capsaicin are other words for "cayenne" or the plant chemical in cayenne). http://tinyurl.com/2en3b4l
I don't know if you're familiar with researching "herbs" on the 'net, but the playing field is SERIOUSLY tilted against the truth. Clinical studies/research is RARELY done with top quality, organic herbs & plants...and almost always they are done with some kind of a "plant chemical isolate" (which does NOT have the same effect as all the plant chemicals together).
Also, a plant can't be "trademarked" or patented, so there's ZERO money to made by the pharmaceutical cartels by fairly researching herbs. And since the pharmaceutical cartels are the ones that fund the research (and the ones that lose big bucks if a safe herb is found to be effective)...well, basically, we have to search REALLY hard to find and learn the truth (and sometimes the only way we can learn the truth is from old research and healers).
But even with the playing field that tilted, there's still been studies to prove cayenne is extremely effective for chronic migraines:
>>> All patients treated with capsaicin reported an improvement in their migraine, which was judged to be between 50 and 80%. <<< http://bja.oxfordjournals.org/content/90/6/812.full
BUT that wasn't using real cayenne :( it was only one chemical in the peppers and it was mixed with other chemicals and given nasally. A whole herb tincture that goes into the bloodstream (via mouth) will likely be even more effective.
Cayenne has several "migraine whammies"...it regulates circulation (hence relaxing constricted blood vessels and tightening loose ones); it lowers Substance P (Substance P is a neuropeptide that enhances pain & anxiety) - so lowering Substance P lowers pain & anxiety/tension; the temporary burning sensation increases endorphins (lessening/eliminating pain).
As you'll see in the files, it can't be just any "cayenne", it has to one with a high "heat unit rating" (commonly abbreviated HU)...so if you've tried typical cayenne before and not gotten results, you'll likely have completely different results from 'top hot' cayenne.
Of course, we know that the cause of your migraines isn't a "lack of cayenne" (or pharmaceuticals), but until we can correct the cause, I'm sure cayenne will give you a LOT of relief :)
You're gonna LOVE natural healing!
Uny
