I had a swollen, itchy eye a couple of weeks ago. I happened to have Alka-thyme on hand (I always have it on hand) and made a little pack with it by folding up a strong paper towel and pouring a little Alka-thyme on it. Then just held it on my closed eye for a while, not worrying if a very tiny bit seeped through my eyelids. Very soon my eye was better and I did this a few times for the next couple of days until it was completely back to "normal."
