Hello dear friends,
Today is day 1 again for me. July-August, I took on a 19 day fast and did fairly well with it. I was breaking it well also, until I took an already scheduled trip to the Midwest.
Not only was there nothing NEAR healthy for me to eat (forget juice, raw foods, couldn't even find vegetables!!), I also met my birth mother for the first time and saw my adoptive parents again, with whom I have had a tumultuous relationship.
Suffice it to say I feel the need to fast again, this time knowing I won't be taken out of my own element that way again. I am starting school the 27th (I'm 23) and debating whether it's wise to continue the fast through the start of school. Advice there from someone who's been there, done that would be appreciated.
But really what would be helpful this time around are sources of joy. It was easy to get down for periods during my fast and while I gained a lot from sitting with my own feelings, I also could have used some humor, or optimistic wisdom to read/view.
I don't own a TV and don't wish to watch that kind of thing, that is, sarcastic or violent humor...you get the picture. Does anyone have any suggestions? What uplifted you while fasting?
Thanks in advance!!
