Maybe someone here can help me understand as to what occurred regarding my girlfriend. Recently, my girlfriend and I were invited to a beach house by a childhood friend of hers, who she knew as a "good" friend. Also invited were 5 other guys and two girls who we never met, which I thought was weird, but it didn't matter to us because we were our own company. To get straight to the point, after everyone met acquaintances, we went about our business and had a great time at the beach. Later that night, actually well into the next morning, we went to sleep (in the living room in a designated area) after being out the whole day. Around 4:30am, I awoke to a high blood sugar, and could not find my needle for my insulin. I knew there was one in our car, so I told her I'd be right back. Before I left, I made certain she was ok, and checked to make sure that other males in the house were asleep, given the fact I didn't know who or what they were capable of if the "happened" to wake up and see her alone. Now, I feel TERRIBLE! Once I arrived to the vehicle, I administered my medicine, then dozed off for about 20 minutes. The next thing I noticed was my girlfriend knocking on the car window. She was visibly shaken, as it took her 5 minutes to explain to me that one of the males we met earlier pulled her pants down from the back, and attempted to insert his penis in either her vagina or anus. She knew it wasn't me at once, as she turned around to confront the ******. On impulse, he darted upstairs to avoid conflict. Once I learned of this, I rushed back to the condo to confront the ******, but to no avail, he was gone. 15 minutes later, there was a knock at the door, and it was him. Rage and the horror in my mind of what I was about to do to him set in, but my conscience took over as I sat him down to ask him what occurred. The ****** claimed he had just arrived back to the condo after a long night on the boardwalk, and had no idea what we were accusing him of. My girlfriend was not inebriated. Was VERY lucid, and identified him as her attacker. So instead of alienating the ******, I decided to talk circles around him. I explained that when I left the condo earlier, I "might have" left the door open where an intruder "could have" walked in and attacked my girlfriend. I further befuddled him as I explained that I noticed two males in the area of the condo who looked suspicious, and explained to him it could have been one of them who committed the act. Playing into my trap, the ****** said he saw the two standing by the condo also, and even agreed to the description I gave him of the two. To shorten this long story, we ultimately alerted the police, and the investigation is ongoing. The police did a remarkable job as they confiscated the evidence (her underwear) to send them to the lab for trace evidence. What baffles me about the whole ordeal though is the reaction from her childhood friend, who at first consoled her, but when reality set in that police were involved, her own friend turned her back on her. Once we left the condo after the ordeal, her friend NEVER texted her to check on her welfare. The only text my girlfriend received was an objection as to why she is pressing charges. I need help wondering how a friend could be so crass, furthermore, if she even had anything to possibly do with the assault? Thank you in advance to anyone who has any advice for us on this tragic matter.
