Because there are so few facts, and my area seems to be so afflicted, I keep wondering if I am in a pocket of 'local bad' or the entier gulf coast is as affected as the small area that I live in.
It seems to me that the motive to cover up this kind of environmental disater is pretty huge, and it's just hard to wrap your head around in any kind of sane way. The facts aren't sane.
Even if it's just massive denial, rather than any kind of a thought out response (I didn't use the 'c' word) people are going to try to protect their property values, suck it up and die before they are going to admit that there might be a problem.
My area seems to be in the anger phase & getting out of the denial phase, makes it difficult to go to work, the grocery store, or interact with almost anymore because there is so much anger that is getting displaced at whatever shows up as a possible target. I went outside, the couple behind us is having a screaming argument.
So it goes, denial, anger, bargaining (you can substute scapegoating- it someones fault- rage needs a target-) sadness, acceptance, but that dosen't change the problem.
And someone is to blame, but that also doesn't change the effects of all that toxic stuff dumped into the Gulf.
Or fix it.
And guess what, Mariner Energy has had a massive rig explosion this morning, off the coast of Louisana, so here we go again.
But who knows, maybe this rig explosion might not be the horror of the BP explosion.
