Uny,

I remember reading your carrot slime post. This reminds me of the beet kvass recipe that I tried at my friends house. I never got to try one more batch to see what went wrong nor did I try to drink it. I later read that we are not supposed to grate or finely mince/chop the beets for the kvass because it'll get hard to control the fermentation. My friend was successful in making perfect Kvass when she just chopped them in big chunks. I wanted to incorporate kvass since it's supposed to do the liver good...that's on my "got to try" list and I have no inclination nor energy to experiment on new things now.

I'm planning to make and can juices the previous night for the next day. I was a little concerned about the juicer base getting hot. It took me 3 hours to juice 20 pints. I would rather do one hour of juicing every day than spending three hours. I had to give 2 or 3 breaks inbetween to cool the juicer down.

Willow, I know it'll be okay to run the motor, but you'll never know. What if it conks out and I don't want to spend my time communicating and shipping back and forth, and not having a juicer on hand when I most require it. For the amount of churning it is doing to bring out "pure goodness", I think I should treat it more gently and give it the required rest to cool down.

Willow, my son drinks any amount of juice, water kefir and water but somehow he seems to have enough space for his regular meals. There is a huge tantrum when I keep him away from good healthy food. Pure IP seems a little hard for me now. I'm just going ahead with whatever I can do...I really think his body will begin to crave more juice and I may see him wean himself off of cooked vegan meals. I still think whatever we do, even if isn't Dr S's IP, will still benefit him.

Back to my canned juices....I think I'll just remove them from the refrigerator when required and put it in warm water bath for a few mins to make them less cold.

Thanks again..

HJ
