I'm going try posting another personal observation, and hopefully I won't get jumped for it.
We've had a couple of avid sport fishermen in the shop last week end, and they say that all the big fishing contests have been cancelled, with compensation to the fishing clubs from BP. What has happened, according to the fishermen, is that the sharks have moved from the oil spill and closed area in the gulf waters, they can travel quickly, and they seem to be very sensitive to any changes in the water. Either the sharks are concentrated here, and they are eating all the sport fish, or the sport fish have died or left the area entirely. There are too many sharks, many more than normal.
The big sport fish are just missing from their usual haunts, not to be found anywhere.
I know the gulf is a major spawning ground for many fish species, and I think we may be losing species because of the spill. I guess time will tell.
We are seeing more sick people in our shop, people seem to follow a pattern, they get swollen limbs, they get irritated red eyes, they get rashes, and then heart trouble/attacks. People feel like they are having heart attacks when they aren't, people with underlying conditions seem to have the real thing.
We are working on our house to get it ready to sell, we are trying to sell our shop. I love the area, and I respect the people here, especially coming from a liberal west cost background, it is hard to see people who are just decent get hit so badly with something they don't understand, and really don't comprehend.
But just like here, in this forum, anyone who talks about the obvious gets slammed with everything from being called a racist (it's evidently anti Obama to notice there is something wrong down here) to being off their meds, which is what i've been asked by one poster on this forum.
The air seems to be the worst here after a rain. It's got an odd smell. Rather like an oil refinery.
This is just a personal observation, I really don't want to have to personally defend myself in order to post. If you don't believe it, cool, take what you like and leave the rest.
