Yes, they do. It's because they lost their power over you. Without their power over you, they are nothing. They feel like without that power, no one loves or appreciatees them. I recently broke away from a narcissist family member (who was my care taker growing up) and she's threatened my boyfriend (who i'm staying with)'s mother, his brother, him, and anyone who knew anything at all about me. She has shown up at my friends' places of work, my boyfriend's work, my boyfriend's mother's work, etc. She left harrassing and threatening phone calls to all of us, tried manipulating me to come back home to materialistic objects (i.e. new car, new house, etc.) but you just have to keep your chin up and say no. Even though times will be tough if you leave, you will survive. Trust me, getting away as soon as possible, as uncomfortable the living conditions may be, will be 100% better for you mentally in the long run. I dealt with this narcissist for nineteen years..I finally got away, and though I'm starting my life basically from scratch...I couldn't be happier. Even though the scars are deep, through counseling and talking about it, I have survived and you can, too.
