It gets complicated, if you can't get all the Mercury out it finds its way to the brain and makes all much worse. So some would have warned and blamed Iodium.
That said; someone understood the relationship otherwise the text wouldn't exist.

I would add that to mimic the homeo one could use Trappers magnetic version. Alchemy or Ion adjustment is part of Homeopathy.
However the issue with Mercury and Lead still exists...
