Thanks for your reply. I am taking your advice and upping my water intake (I am naturally almost thirstless), since I know I drink too little water any way.

I feel much better today, only a small amount of discomfort in my left tonsil - my tonsils seem to be fighting off something.

I know gargling with fenugreek helps a lot for painful tonsils, but I could not find any in the shop, so I did an Iodine-type gargle.

I also lowered my dose of turmeric slightly, so my body has a chance to get over itself ;-)

I must add, I did not expect such an die-off reaction, since I was not taking the turmeric for candida. But hey, I am not complaining at all about the side effect of the candida die-off.
