Cell mediated immunity to Candida is largely reliant on Th1 immune response. The switch from Th1 to Th2 is associated with increased mucosal colonization of Candida. It is probable that most people with candidiasis, especially those with yeast hypersensitivity, have an overactive Th2 immune response, to the detriment of Th1, making it very hard for the body to overcome Candida.

Lactoferrin promises to regulate the Th1/Th2 balance, and stimulate the body's Th1 response, thereby providing greater immunity against Candida.
