After reading about ultrasounds, I have decided not to get one. My midwife does one ultrasound if you want it, and either uses a Doppler or Fetoscope depending on your preference. I have heard that the only difference between an ultrasound and Doppler is that the ultrasound provides pictures whereas the Doppler does not. Is this true? Are the concerns with the Doppler the same as the ultrasound?
I am a little confused as to why some midwives (not mine, a friend's) will absolutely not use an ultrasound, but they insist on using the Doppler. Sorry, just trying to make sense of it in my head. If I'm not using an ultrasound, should I stick with the fetoscope instead of the Doppler? Or is the Doppler safer to use than the ultrasound?
