Hi Mamacatpatch - I agree with a lot of what is being said about the state of the industry, but I see a slippery slope and a lot of gray areas with the "deserve" part of it. In theory I agree with it, but I think it would be very difficult in practice. Basically, it is deciding who should live and who should die, the dreaded "death panels" that were so feared during the health care reform push. What about a recovering alcoholic, who has tried and tried to quit over the years, but just recently was able to, has a 5 year old and no spouse? How do you dig so deep into people's personal lives and struggles to be able judge whether they get a second chance at life or not? I for one would not want such a responsibility. I believe that is why it is more of a first come, first served type of system, even tho it means there are many faults with the system as the article points out. If my liver goes to a murderer, I'll still have saved a life. Maybe that murderer will repent. Maybe he/she will sit in jail and with all the free time on their hands, come up with a plan to save the planet, you just never know.
