EXACTLY. So many people I've told about this book think it sounds like just another diet book. I tell them Taubes is NOT a doctor, nor a diet guru, he's a Scientific Journalist.

He really smacks those that set up our Food Pyramid across the face....

But they just recently revisited and revised the Food Pyramid, and they have actually LOWERED the amount of fats in the American Diet. Banting must be rolling over in his grave.

What the hell is going on in this country? If you believed in them, this could look like a Conspiracy of mass proportion. Where the masses are fat = immoral and gluttonous. All those poor people out there whose health is failing, all because of these elitist doctors telling everyone what to eat. General Mills, and the pharmaceutical companies, the national corn growers and the Sugar industry. They all seem to be in on it.

Thank you for that excellent synopsis.

I personally decided to go back for my MA in Holistic Nutrition. Will start in October. That's what an impact this book had on me.
