Some people have had good results with Dr. Lam's protocol, while others haven't.
Personally, I was taking up to 50,000 mg of ascorbic acid per day from Lam's supplements yet felt no improvement. So I decided to try the food route, and I'm quite surprised by how much better I started to feel, even though I probably only get about 1 gram of Vitamin C daily from food.
I actually disagree with NoUnicorn's idea that the adrenal glands are some sort of gas tank filled with Vitamin C and Vitamin B5, and that adrenal fatigue is merely the depletion of our gas tank. (No offense NoUnicorns. You're a cool cat, and if we lived nearby I would buy you a beer, but I think this is a far too simplistic way of looking at things.)
I've been trying to find some raw numbers regarding how much Vitamin C our bodies can actually store, and this is what I found:
http://www.exrx.net/Nutrition/Antioxidants/VitaminC.html
Under the section called "Storage," it states that the total body pool of ascorbic acid in the body is estimated to be around 20 mg per kg of body weight. This means that even a person who weighs 200 pounds has less than 2 grams of Vitamin C in their body.
I do agree that Vitamin C and B5 are probably the most important elements in an adrenal fatigue program, but mega-dosing is probably not necessary.
