I've seen people recommending kidney teas even for kidney stones and virtually every other kidney condition, yet in the safety guidelines established by the American Herbal Products Association, herbs commonly included in kidney teas such as hydrangea root, gravel root, uva ursi, goldenrod, juniper berry, and buchu all bear the warning:
"Not for persons with history of kidney stones, renal dysfunction or inflammation."
This is important as some people might be using these products to treat these conditions and unknowingly making them worse. Consider that most people don't know the actual condition of their kidneys and also that authors prescribe these herbs quite liberally without a word of caution. If the AHPA is correct, then a Celery Seed Tea may be a safer option to choose as kidney cleanse.
