Hey Zoe, I agree, I think that the risks of this type of deep sea drilling were well known to all companies involved, as well as the US government. This info is already beginning to come into the public view.

I have heard a little about what is suspected in the coral sea. I was speaking to a friend who is an engineer, (he is currently working in the Gulf on the second relief well), he works on many off shore drill rigs, doing safety inspections etc. I was asking him about this theory of earthquakes being a result of what is happening in the Gulf. His view is that unless there is material being pumped back into the reserve, to compensate for what is coming out, (as in the oil and gas), there is likely to be major subsidence, and this may cause earthquakes, due to shifts in the sea floor.

The Science is a lot more complex than this simple explaination, and the locality is also an important variable, but you can see what he's getting at. I hope for the sake of all the people living there, that he is wrong.

Thanks for your input Zoe, all information is valuable
