I had 18 Amalgam fillings for 40 years replaced with gold in Mexico, no protocols except activated charcoal,alcohol,in 2004.
I was quite ill around the 5 to 9 month period. My theory is the body is adjusting to working without mercury.

I would recommend taking ALA 3 months after removal. It is cheap and harmless. Ala always made me feel better when I took it. DMSA always made me feel worse.

I havent used Algin, but it sounds like it might work.

Also I take high doses of Iodine and that might also be worth trying.
