I can understand how you feel, from your experience, it is very hard to trust any information these days. Probably the greatest assest that a person can have is the ability to read the energy of any given situation, if the energy and the information don't match, the information is wrong, because the energy never is. This combined with knowledge protects me from being taken in by those that have an agenda behind the information they are putting forward. (This applies equally to any mainstream science/politics etc, and the alternative theories/medicine etc).

I think that everyone on this planet has the ability to read energy, it just takes practice, and an understanding of how energy works. This needs to be on both an intellectual basis, as well as an experiential one. The evidence can be skewed and fudged, but the energy can't, so when in doubt I go with the energy :)
