yes! I was hardly sleeping on the water fast, and after, it persisted. It sorted itself out on its own. I don't recommend doing anything about it, except trying to get your head on the pillow by ten PM -IF you really need to push yourself to get back into a 9-5 type routine- If you don't, then you are liable to get a second wind, and maybe a third, which in fact is a form of slowly exhausting the adrenals. According to the body's normal rhtyms, the best-quality rest is to be had from 10-6 am. (I'm a night owl so it's more natural for me to stay up late; but that may be because I like a lot of quiet, and that's hard to come by in the city, until late. In the country, I've lived on a difernet schedule and tended to be in bed by ten, which probably proves the point that its the MOST Natural way to function.)
Remove all electrical devices from your sleeping area (which you should do anyway), and try to have a pitch black room. (I have streetlights outside, where I live, so it's a challenge to arrange things so that they are not "visible", and it's not appearing like twilight outside. (Even with the eyes closed, light is 'visible' to the body, and affects it a lot.) Make sure you get a lot of fresh air. Your body will rebel at being shut-in.
I think it took me more than a month, maybe six weeks to be able to go to sleep right away. I just gave up resisting what was, and would instead put myself in a good state of calm, breathing slowly, doing mindful relaxation, smiling at the body, and gnerating appreciation for everything that came to mind. You can also extend love and forgivness to everyone who pops into your head, and wish them well--without getting caught in thinking, and replaying old sotries. It's a really good way to spend your time, if you are going to be awake. The main thing is, that you "rest" -- the effects of the Water Fast continue long after the fast, and that can be a very good thing, as long as you
are following the principles of eating a plant-based diet, and eating only when hungry. It's a lot like an organic extension of the water fast, when you drink only according to thirst. Any more than that is either trying to 'force' a cleansing, or is necessary, for those who are being active.
If you really feel troubled by the not sleeping, and you are getting stressed and wiped out, you might try melatonin. Even so, you must have your head on the pillow by ten PM for it to work. Watching TV or doing computer stuff with a laptop, say, does not qualify for "on the pillow". :-) Even reading, as many people do.
