So many things that can go wrong with a body truly have a lot to do with our poor diets which cause nutritional deficiencies.

For example, when I learned about Celiac Disease (sensitivity or intolerance to the grain protein called gluten from sources such as wheat, rye and barley) I learned that IT causes deficiencies that can cause scoliosis - which is also a problem with the spinal vertebrae! Wheat is in SO many foods...a ridiculous amount of processed food (which is something we need to avoid, anyway!)

Upon learning of Iodine deficiency and ITS symptoms in the body, I noticed an incredible amount of similarities of detrimental effects to the body - the list was comparable to the list I had seen due to eating too much gluten.

As far as a medical link to tell you a dowagers hump is related to deficiencies - well, I don't have one at present. But based upon my own life's experiences (my family has several members with Celiac sprue, AND have benefitted greatly from Iodine supplementation) - well, then my educated GUESS would be that a dowagers hump could very well be indicative of an Iodine deficiency, at the very least a poor diet.

We have learned, in this forum, that the MORE "uncomfortable" the reactions to taking iodine, in actuality - the more you NEED iodine.

I would suggest, perhaps, titrating upwards slowly in your intake of iodine - perhaps even "pulsing" it - (having "on" days and "off" days - for example: taking iodine for 5 days, then not taking it for two to give your body a chance to "get caught up" on toxin removal). Keep in mind that there are also people here who have benefitted greatly from "pushing forward" and taking very high doses of iodine, especially the first three months. You truly need to learn what is best for YOUR body, however. (I eventually took high doses, but I worked upwards slowly...my body was quite toxic.)

Be kind to your kidneys by drinking enough pure water, and consuming enough salt and the other companion nutrients, especially during the first three months of supplementation.

Getting educated on this vital nutrient is exemplary. There's lot of great information here...especially at the iodine answers link (should be a "clickable" purple iodine within one of our posts), or from the myriad of BSA, RRR, RR, and R posts.

Listen from here, too - great stuff:
