If I were to end the fast after 20 days, and begin a new one, say 2 days later. Health wise, have I recovered from the first one, or physiologically, would it be as if I were continuously fasting from the time I start 20-days earlier.

Hi there Fastingguy :),

From everything i have read from fasting experts you would be far better off to continue fasting after 20 days rather than breaking it for a mere 2 days before re-engaging. If you want to engage in a long fast then take a substantial break to replenish your nutritional stores (like 1.5-3 days of refeeding for each day of fasting), that would be great, but 2 days of re-feeding is really not worth interrupting the process over and would accomplish nothing for you physiologically in terms of preparing you for the next segment of fasting.

... Because I always read these horror stories that a person cannot survive past 20 days,... And, I know that's pretty much bunk.

I know you did not read this from experts on the subject matter such as Dr. Shelton. There are definately things to watch for such as a sharp/sudden drop in blood pressure, but you're absolutely right that it is completely bunk that a person can not survive past 20 days.

But I do tend to lose quite rapidly when I fast.

Lots of temporary water loss is quite common and i think people get overly alarmed about it. In my current fast i have about 25 pounds of water that will be back on my body within 3 weeks of breaking the fast at which point all of the concerns of those around me will vanish as if by magic.

At any rate, just wondering from anyone's experience. Basically I want to do consecutive fasts, but I want to know what I'm getting into. Once you eat, is it safe to begin a new one, or is the body still in the "danger" zone?

As a re-cap of what i said above, rather than going 20 days, taking a 2 day break then re-engaging in another 20 days, i would aim for an unbroken longer fast such as 30 or 40 days followed by a substantial re-feeding break (1.5-3 days of re-feeding for each day of fasting) before engaging in the next long fast... which is very similar to what nooneinp is talking about.

All the best :).
