Thanks for your replies Daisy & Sanjean & Lorica,
Lorica, I forgot to mention that I had (based on a recommendation from somewhere) I had been putting zinc ointment on my anus as well. Folded 2 kleenexes into a 3 by 2 inch square and put about a teaspoon of zinc ointment and pressed it against the anus and left it there. Reapplied after each bowel movement - this to try and prevent re-infection. I don't know if Noxema is better at killing them, or if zinc oxide ointment does kill them.
Sanjean, good point about the oxygen required for eggs to hatch. I had read that they can hatch inside, meaning that it isn't always that we reinfect ourselves through oral means. (Lord knows, I have become extremely careful.)
So maybe this is the answer:
Found this on Wikipedia http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Enterobius:
in Transmission paragraph:
"Although pinworms do not strictly multiply inside the body of their human host,[20] some of the pinworm larvae may hatch on the anal mucosa, and migrate up the bowel and back into the gastrointestinal tract of the original host."
This would mean that sometimes the eggs are right in the anal area and even if only a few make it back up each month then they could keep the cycle going.
Also, I know Wormwood is toxic but something has to kill them. Thinking about it, I agree that Vermox is probably a better choice. The Vermox description says that a roundworm dose could be 2 pills a day (1 in morning and 1 at night) for 3 days - so that would be safe to do instead of the Wormwood . To be quite honest, I tried 4 Vermox a day for 3 days, for several weeks in a row. Diminished them but did not eradicate them.
I needed the flushing and enemas added to the regimen. And I think that adding the Vermox to the mix instead of Wormwood would be what I would try again if I get them.
Thanks for the feedback,
Bluepetunia
