with you on the opinion that nothing
could be done.
I understand that technology to stop
or even control this well most likely
does not exist for the amount of pressure
being exerted. I blame the current
administration for giving BP the green
flag to open this well knowing what
the geologic conditions were well
ahead of time.
I do think however that an effort should
have, could have, been made to bring
together the most intelligent minds in
the industry to hash out ALL options.
I feel BP could be doing more too. They
could have had ships lined up to capture
more oil. They could have been transparent
as with this disaster, inevitably there
will be apparent outcomes. They chose to
hide the magnitude of the oil spill by
using Corexit which made it all the more
dangerous. In time, and with hindsight,
we will see that profit and corruption
were put in front of human and marine
life, as well as the coastal ecology
and like you suggest, ultimately the
global ecology. What pathetic excuses
of humanity whoever the board members
or room of lawyers are who have chosen
to hide the truth in the face of such
critical consequences.
It is destruction by human hand that
makes it all the more difficult to
absorb. This was no act of nature.
If it was an accident, in the aftermath,
the situations which have exacerbated
the issues were not.
