halides are known to be carrier agents... that is why they use fluoride and bromide in pharmaceutical medicines.

The magnesium in magnesium chloride is *forced* in... by the halide. So you can get too much. I do not care what the book states. The anion matters.

You would be far safer with a spray solution of magnesium sulfate dissolved in water.
