Hi Chris,

Thanks for sending what all those people 'say'. But alas I was unable to verify the authenticity of any recorded blood tests there.

My main concern is that people be reminded here that as beneficial as fasting is, it's not a cure all and anyone preparing to fast in order to cure or lessen a metabolic, hormonal or organ disorder would be wise to ascertain (as best as possible) it's probable or possible origin *before* embarking on a lengthy fast which may just exasperate it further. Detoxing is one thing curing an illness is another. It's not something to be gung-ho about if you have an underlying disorder.

I'm also concerned that the normal haemoconcentration that occurs during fasting not be being mistaken for a beneficially raised red cell production caused by fasting. Because it is not. Although there is every reason to 'believe' (and that is all we can do without access to verifiable blood tests) and from the evidence of our own energy levels after fasting, that fasting can improve nutrient absorption. But this will not be the case for all fasters.

I recall one MS faster on Curezone who after a lengthy fast never returned to give us the good news. One would expect he would have yelled it from the mountain tops ...if it had worked.

Yes there is a lot of evidence that faulty nutrition can cause or exasperate an illness, but it's also sensible to remind fasters that no amount of nutrition, medical treatment or fasting has (as yet - although they are working on it) been able to replace or repair deleted, mutated or trans-located genes which may be the underlying cause of their particular malabsorption.

This is why I am suggesting to anyone (with an illness) planning to embark on a lengthy fast, to not just depend on advise given here, but have it's cause diagnosed to the best of your ability and then educate yoursself as much as possible about it as so as to know better what to expect during your lengthy and probably unsupervised fast. We are, after all, here to help each other experience a safe, well informed and healing fast.
