John,
perhaps you would like to explain the difference between receiving 10,000ius of Vitamin D per day from sunlight, and 10,000ius per day from supplementation in the absence of sunlight.
The body can make 20,000ius and more of cholcalciferol from just a half hour exposure to sunlight. Many experts believe that this can be as much as 40,000ius per day.

Your comment........
..."its not natural, its a drug. and it acts in the body like a drug, and has side effects, just like a drug... even at low doses".

.....does not bear scrutiny.

Vitamin D as a drug!! with side-effects!! even at low doses!!

John, all food you eat has a chemical composition: Vitamins, minerals, enzymes, phytonutrients, and other compounds not yet discovered.
Vitamin D has a chemical composition, but that does not classify it as a "drug"; it is formulated by Nature to be bio-available, nutritious and required by the body for health. The same cannot be said for arsenic.

BTW. The only side-effects of Vitamin D are beneficial ones in the prevention of and treatment of disease.

You sound to me as if you could be an employee of the FDA (Food as Drugs Agency), who state that any substance that is claimed to treat, prevent, cure, and/or mitigate disease, is classified as a "drug":

Cherries and walnuts apparently are now placed into that category by the FDA, so the next time you eat these, don't forget you are eating "drugs"!!! and you have become a "junkie".

Welcome to the World of "Junkies" John.

Chrisb1.
