yes, the oxygen breaks up the particles into smaller ones.

the general rule of thumb for silver/oxygen is that a little bit of silver makes oxygen work a lot better and a little bit of oxygen makes silver work better. they both increase oxidation but do so in different ways with combinations of similar and different results. so use a lot of whichever you want the effects of and a little of the other to enhance its effects.
