I am not a praying man so much any more as I mostly reject using prayer as a type of begging but there are moments when I am humbled to my knees, begging for mercy. Instead, I call what I do between me and the light and even the lesser God of this world a conversation.

I fell ill from a wicked breeze that blew in my window from the bay. I am far from the tragedy unfolding in the more eastern and northern areas of the Gulf of Mexico but a strong wind blew in from the East, I awoke with my eyes burning and I noticed I had sore throat... I could later smell a faint odor that reminded me of motor oil but I could not say from where it came... I have taken time away from my work to lick my wounds.

My chest is on fire and I have a persistent hacking cough. I am not afraid of death but I am afraid for the pain and suffering being inflicted on all affected by what is going on beneath the waves and is spreading through the air today in The Gulf of Mexico.

I have been heart broken by the millions of fish that have been washing up on the shores where I live from brown and red tide, this last year, but the oil gushing out of the earth today in the Gulf is inflicting an epic amount of suffering upon all living things in its path. The loss of human life has been minimal so far, eleven to date, but the death of over three-hundred dolphins is not a some small number of other confirmed deaths and the countless loss of life of other sea-life being smothered in oil is appalling...

Death is a release from suffering but there is some very deep down heavy suffering that is coming to this earth soon from this disaster but we can shorten the hours and days of that suffering, if we will only choose to move beyond fear, to engage our world in an active process to love...

I am eternally sad but this is not a day to be sad... The earth needs us now...

I taught Environmental Science to children for years and through the process, I learned of a man from Japan who believed intention is a very powerful medium of change. If we intend fear and anger then this will be what is returned to us.

Dr. Emoto did experiments where words like love and joy were written on bottles of water and other words like hate and anger were written on others. The bottles of water with kind words formed crystals while the bottles with angry words did not. What does it mean? I believe it means that rocks and trees... and even the water out at sea responds to our intentions... I hope you can join me in an intention to heal what is hurting in the Gulf, if you do not like the word prayer;

I join in your prayer or intention;

"I send the energy of love and gratitude
to the water and all the living creatures
in the Gulf of Mexico and its surroundings.

To the whales, dolphins, pelicans, fish,
shellfish, plankton, coral, algae, and all
living creatures...I am sorry. Please forgive
me. Thank you.

We don't have to know how......we just have to
recognize that the power of love is greater
than any power active in the Universe today."

May the sum of all love and gratitude honor your life today;

it is my hope that you will in turn share your love and

gratitude with the all that is being impacted by the events

occuring in the Gulf today.
