I've heard of Cancidas - also known as Capsofungin. I've been trying to convince my MD to pursue this, but she is reluctant at the moment. Wanted to look into it further. As stated, I am also interested in Voriconazole, but I really need to find a doctor who is familiar with these meds. I find it incredibly odd that MD's knowledgeable of anti-fungal medications are so difficult to find in the state of Florida. I had a great MD (functional medicine, but she was a three hour drive for me and eventually released me as a patient because I could not get to her often enough. We also did not have the full scope of things back then. Considering contacting her now that I do.

The swallowing thing is due to all the junk from my lungs, throat, sinuses, and stomach. Very severe PND, which seems to just become glue from the throat down. Blocks everything. I can choke on water. Did you have any of these symptoms? I think the more serious culprit is the Aspergillus. I believe I learned (unknowingly) how to "manage" things as they related to a pre-existing C krusei and albican overgrowth developed many, many years ago. I have been underweight for over twenty years. All began with a "choice' to become anorexic when I was in college. Once I'd lost the desired weight, my flora and adrenals were so whacked that I could not eat back then either. Not normally, not comfortably. It wasn't until I literally told myself I'd had enough - and just threw myself at my career. I was a nut, hyperambitious, successful, stressed beyond imagination. But accomplished anything and never got sick. I was fighting "something" all along -- but had never heard of these infections. I only knew that acidophillus would put down any UTI I would occassionally develop.

It was the mold encounter that really caused me to hit the wall. Went from hyper-functional, with the appearance of incredible health (despite eating difficulty) to a total mess shortly after the episode. It's a crazy story. I found mold in a storage closet - covering everything. Books, documents, files, press (newspapers - due to the nature of my biz I received a lot of press). All this was irreplaceable. I took a scrub brush to everything and closed myself in the closet - inhaling the mold. Came down with the worst case of sneezing and coughing that evening. Continued this madness for several months. Less than a year later, the hurricanes. Ripped out the drywall and found mold EVERYWHERE. I lived in a gorgeous Deco condo on South Beach in Miami. The mold was systemic to the building. It had never been properly maintained. Sad, because it is a relatively famous building. The Rat Pack hung out there in the 40's (?0. Several others in the building got sick - but due to my acute exposure, I got nailed.

Recent labs revealed the following in my lungs and sinus cavity:

Rare Aspergillis species: not Fumigatus
Rare Candida Krusei
Rare Trichoderma species
Rare mold: probable Chrysosporium

We've since determined the Aspergillus to be of the flavus variety.

Four years prior, same lab found C albicans - but I do not believe that doctor ordered a FULL fungal profile at the time. Years later I had to insist.'

>> You have to administer the I.V. yourself at home, it took about 1 hour to administer it everyday.

How long were you administering the IV - what length of time?

>>In hindsight, I feel I have had better results with the oral meds.

The Sporanox?

The foods you tolerate are (give or take) similar to what I tend to want to eat - if I can eat. I can handle most all vegetables, but some trouble with ones that can leave particles in my throat, or slide into my sinuses. Broccoli a perfect example. I am not "allergic" to it, but it gets stuck - the little particles will.

The BEST is rutabaga. Watercress is good. Any leafy vegetable is okay. Cabbage, onions, radishes, squashes (zucinni or yellow), spinach, carrots, all okay. Green apples. But I almost NEVER have an appetite.

So I survive on egg white protein smoothies with hemp milk or almond milk, chicory, nettle, green tea (Matcha), or some kind of fruit, topped with frozen coconut oil, Maca, Ruteri, probiotics (Kyo-9), inulin, lecithin, Serrapeptase, bee pollen, a few other goodies - not all at once. The fruit is not great, but better than where I was - unable to swallow anything, craving nothing, etc. I don't crave Sugar at all. I WISH I did.

Need to scoot - more questions for you probably forthcoming.
