I really disagree with the people who say the diet doesn't do much, it is the main part of attacking candida in my opinion, BUT you have to be smart about it by preparing ahead of time and making sure to get tons of healthy fat.

This is by no means a calorie restricted diet!!! Lots of people think a candida diet equates to weight loss and that just isn't completely true.

You will lose weight in the beginning as you start to starve off yeast, however once your macro-nutrients are in order your weight will level out. I think the BIGGEST mistake most newbies make with the candida diet is not getting enough fat to compensate for the low carb level. Without the fat you will feel miserable and will have ZERO energy as your discovering.

I've about to hit 3 months on the anti-candida diet and have seen a dramatic improvement in ALL my symptoms. I just started internal cleansing this week and am hopeful I can start to reintroduce some foods in the next couple months.

I've done a ton of research on this topic and this is my thoughts on your situation:

1) Don't eat brown rice, even though its a complex carb it will breakdown into Sugar in the blood stream, feeding the yeast.

2) As another person mentioned, go buy some Extra-Virgin Coconut Oil, that is going to be your best friend on this routine. Cook all your high temperature foods with it and eat it by the spoonful after meals for extra calories. I eat 6 tbsps of it a day, its a great anti-fungal and immune booster. It will cause die-off so build up to 6 tbsps slowly.

3) Don't do any exercising for the first few weeks to month, until you start to have more energy.

4) Start using a calorie counting site to track your food intake daily; nutritiondata and fitday are excellent. 1,000 calories a day is WAY TOO LITTLE!!! No wonder you feel miserable. I'm eating 2,500 calories a day on the anti-candida diet.

Here's a list of what I eat daily, more or less the same thing.

Protein: eggs, beef, chicken, salmon

Carbs: red cabbage, cauliflower, green beans, kale, spinach, romaine lettuce, broccoli, zucchini

Fat: Cod Liver Oil (supplement), Coconut Oil, Olive-Oil (as a dressing on salads)

Spices: Cayenne pepper, red crushed pepper, black pepper, basil, oregano, raw garlic (anti-fungal)

Water: 80-120oz a day

Everything is organic for the most part.

I lost weight in the beginning but have leveled off and am even starting to gain weight again. Just started back up in the gym about a month ago.

Aside from the diet, I also suggest cleansing and then getting on a good homemade probiotic. Taking a probiotic when yeast levels are high will most likely only feed the yeast more.

Many other add nuts to the diet, but most nuts are a perfect environment for mold/fungus so I avoid them like the plague.

Many many candida diets say you can eat things like: quinoa, brown rice, buckwheat, sweet potatoes, green apples, berries etc ---- all these will feed yeast.

Just know that the beginning is the worst part, if you can power through that it will get easier. Soon your cravings will disappear and you will regain your health.

Also I highly recommend taking anti-oxidant supplements, using a good Sea Salt for minerals and taking a high level of calcium and magnesium.

If you can get on this now, you will be feeling much better by the time nursing school rolls around.

Good luck
