>>"avoid confrontation at all cost"<<
Absolutely... however, with ipods, Cell Phone s, etc. who the heck is paying attention to their surroundings anymore these days? There are many more *vulnerable* people than criminals due to these and other distractions.
>>"attack as quickly as you can at most vulnerable spot of the attacker"<<
this takes training too for most people... unless they have wrestled, boxed, or played some other contact sport throughout their lives.
reflex and instinct causes most people to back away from an attacker.
Being proactive, and *attacking* an an attacker goes against this; backing away whether through fear or reflex is perhaps the worst thing you can do in many cases.
That is why Krav Maga and other self defense oriented styles teaches *bursting* which is exactly as you state above. Bursting is taught for dealing with an attacker who is bigger and stronger than yourself, overhead knife, gun attacks, etc.
If you move in close, you take away a certain amount *leverage* the attacker may have.
Another thing they teach you to deal with is getting hit... or in the case of knife defense getting cut.
In other words... how to accept and deal with the inevitable pain in the middle of a fight for your life.
gun defense can also be painful... and you are taught to assess and accept the risk involved - and fight through the pain if you do happen to be injured.
And in all of the worst case scenarios, you must accept and exercise an appropriate response or *YOU* could be going to jail.
That is why in many cases, you may want to just give them what they want. In others, you may go all out to prevent being abducted or moved, to the point of killing if absolutely necessary.
So...
In general... if you are going to be moved (kidnapped)... do what ever necessary to get the he!! out of there and accept the risk as you assess it.
This is all on the fly... and that is why intense training is necessary... you must be able to think clearly throughout the whole situation and respond appropriately.
if you are in a well, or semi-populated area... screaming, yelling, and making the biggest scene you can is perhaps the best move... get other's attention as best as possible.
One thing we teach young children these days... is that random screaming that appears to be a tantrum is not very effective anymore... children must have a controlled and set dialogue... such as *this is not my mom(my)* or this is not my dad(dy) at the top of their lungs.
If they are picked up... we teach full out head butts to the nose, kicks to the groin or knees, eye gouging, etc...
